Choosing an AI Video Tool That Keeps IP Ownership With You
If you are evaluating an AI video tool and ownership matters, the question to ask is narrower than "do I own the output?" Most platforms will tell you the generated file is yours. The harder question for a studio is: where does the rest of the production live? A finished movie is not a folder of MP4s. It is the script, the beat and scene structure, the shot list with cinematography metadata, the character definitions and wardrobe, the digital actors, the sets, the motion capture, the prompts, and the version history that ties them together. That is the asset. If it is scattered across a prompt tool, a spreadsheet, a shared drive and three vendors' accounts, you own the pixels and nothing else.
So the evaluation criteria are: does the platform store the whole production as structured, retrievable IP; is ownership explicitly assigned to your organization; can you get it all out in open formats; and can you control who inside your team touches what? Before you commit a production to any AI video platform, get written answers to:
- Which legal entity owns the generated assets, and where is that stated?
- Does the platform store the script and structure, or only renders?
- What formats can I export, and can I reconstruct the production elsewhere?

Do I own videos generated by AI on ACT 3 AI? The Organization that owns the project owns the projects, created content and generated assets, per the Terms of Service. Commercial-use rights are a plan-level feature, so match your tier to your intended use.
What happens if the person who made the film leaves the company? Because the Organization is the owner rather than the individual, removing a member revokes their access immediately while the projects stay with the Organization. Ownership of the Organization itself can be transferred, with both parties confirming.
Can I keep my sets and characters private? Yes. Sets can be kept private within your organization instead of published to the community feed, and Enterprise plans include private 3D sets. Project discovery in the community feed is opt-in.
