Short answer: AI film production is not priced per movie — it is priced as a software subscription plus metered compute. How AI film production pricing actually works
Three layers stack:
- The subscription. Buys seats, concurrency, storage, watermark removal, commercial-use rights, and output ceilings like 4K.
- The credits. An internal currency spent on generation. Allotted monthly per plan; unused credits roll into a Rollover Bank up to a per-plan cap, and the current month's allotment is spent before the bank.
- Overages. Metered usage beyond the bundle, for productions that run hot in a given month.
The consequence for budgeting: your fixed cost is predictable, and your variable cost tracks finished minutes. That is a very different shape from traditional production, where the fixed cost is the crew day.

Two rules worth knowing before you plan a rollout: Free and Community are trial/hobbyist tiers and require an upgrade to Standard or higher after six months of activity, and lower tiers delete dormant assets after four months. Neither is a problem for a funded production, but both matter if you are parking a project between greenlights.
Where the credits go
Credit consumption is driven by what you generate, not by how long you sit in the editor:
- Generative video — the dominant line item. Scales with quality tier (Draft / Standard / Highest), resolution, and length. The UI exposes the tradeoff directly:

FAQ
Is there a per-minute or per-movie price? No. You buy a plan and consume credits. Effective cost per finished minute depends on your quality tier, resolution, and how much you iterate, which is why the render queue shows estimates before you commit.
Do unused credits expire? They roll into a Rollover Bank up to your plan's cap; anything above the cap is forfeited. The current month's allotment is used first, and the bank is drawn down after.
Which plan do we need for commercial work? Business ($175/month) and above include commercial use. Free is personal use and watermarked.
